As your hands are bound with ribbon, your lives are symbolically and energetically woven together, held within the wider web of nature, spirit, and community. This ritual marks a threshold, where your union is witnessed, blessed, and rooted in both the seen and unseen worlds.
A Sacred Handfasting is an ancient rite of union, woven through with the presence of the elements, the land, and the unseen realms. Within a circle of ivy and flowers, and witnessed by those gathered, this ceremony invites you to step into a consecrated space where your connection is honoured and deepened. Guided through the four directions, air, fire, water, and earth, you are offered moments to speak your story, your love, and your vows, while receiving the blessings of each element.

A Sacred Celebrant builds the ceremony around the couple, your story, values, beliefs, and intentions. A registrar typically follows a set legal script with limited room for customization. A typical wedding with a registrar will be 30-40 minutes but a Sacred Handfasting may be up to an hour and a half of pure ceremonial bliss.
Spiritual or symbolic depth
As a Sacred Celebrants I can weave in ritual, symbolism, and spiritual elements. This could include blessings, ancestral acknowledgment, or nature-based practices. Registrars conduct a civil ceremony, which must remain non-religious and legally focused. We can work together over months to create something completely unique and tailored to your beliefs.
Freedom of location
With a celebrant, you can hold the ceremony almost anywhere. Forest, beach, home, or any meaningful land or sacred space. Registrars are usually restricted to licensed venues. We can work outside in nature, under sky or stars.

As a sacred celebrant, I take the time to truly get to know you, often over several meetings, so your ceremony feels deeply personal and authentic. Unlike registrar ceremonies, which can be brief and procedural, I create space to understand your story, your connection, and what matters most to you.
