Talking Therapy

I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor who has worked in mental health with people experiencing trauma, addiction and complex needs for over a decade.

I offer relational, integrative psychotherapeutic counselling grounded in ethical practice and clinical training for people who are curious to understand themselves more deeply and explore the patterns, experiences, and questions that shape their lives.

My integrative approach has a psychodynamic foundation. This means we may explore how unconscious patterns, early relationships, and childhood experiences continue to influence your thoughts, emotions, and relationships in the present. Together we might look at themes such as attachment, defence mechanisms, and recurring patterns that shape how you experience the world.

I also draw on person-centred principles, exploring ideas such as the Self and conditions of worth. This work invites reflection on how your sense of identity has developed, how you see yourself today, and what it might mean to reconnect with your more authentic self.

Together we can create a space to reflect on your past, your relationships, and the ways you meet the world today, while discovering new possibilities for change, growth and meaning.

Shamanic Counselling

“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience.” - Pierre Teilhard de Chardin (1956)

Shamanic Counselling integrates spiritual traditions and rituals into modern psychology.  A holistic approach based on the idea that humans are more than just their mind and body, but are also composed of intangible, transcendent factors that make up the whole person. Our soul and the spiritual aspect to our existence cannot be ignored when it comes to Shamanic Counselling.

Shamanic counselling centres on the art of balancing all aspects of the human experience: mind, body, emotions, spirit, and shadow. Through this process, we reconnect with the unconscious mind, which is a primary driver of human behaviour. An important part of spiritual growth within counselling is also recognising and working with the often unexpressed, darker aspects of the psyche—what is known as the ‘shadow’.

Together we will work with both the shadow and the unconscious. We may not truly discover the meaning of life but through shamanic counselling you might discover some understanding of yourself, and so, the meaning to your life.

Through shamanic counselling you will be guided to:

  • Journey into your own inner worlds through shamanic journeying

  • Access spirit guides and power animals

  • Interpret and understand your dreams

  • Use the medicine wheel for healing

  • Utilise ceremony and therapeutic use of tarot and oracle cards

  • Work with Ancestors and ancestral healing

  • Heal through working with sacred land and the forces of nature

  • Acknowledge "soul loss” and re-integrate through “soul retrieval”

Michael Harner the anthropologist and educator believed Shamanism is a path of knowledge, and to acquire that knowledge, including the knowledge of the reality of the Spirit, it is necessary to step through the shaman's doorway. It is my duty and privilege to help you walk through that doorway.

I am happy to deliver both traditional taking therapy and shamanic counselling in person or online.
